Chapel West welcomes Blue Tortuga

The storefront of Blue Tortuga Bistro and Bar at 1180 Chapel Street, its name and a turtle painted in blue on the front window, next to the entrance to Barracuda Bistro and Bar.

Chapel West will soon welcome Blue Tortuga Bistro & Bar to the district. Blue Tortuga will be bringing bold Latin American flavors to every bite and glass.

The new restaurant will replace Barracuda, which will be moving to Crown Street after 10 years in the district.

"This city welcomed me with open arms and allowed me to achieve my American dream,” said Carmenza Huertas, owner of Blue Tortuga. "I have received so much support from so many people in this city, especially Sonia Salazar, a staple and leader of the Latino Community of New Haven.”
